What is your hometown? Penticton, BC, Canada
What is your alma mater? Bentley University
What are your favorite things to do outside of the office? Anything to do with being outside: hiking, running and golfing. If I am not outside, my wife and I like to catch the latest movies playing in the theatre, specifically, Alamo Drafthouse.
How has your background impacted your experience as a consultant? I believe that a combination of my finance and accounting education and early exposure to the industry gave me a very process-improvement focused mindset. This has always been an attribute I rely on heavily and can apply in my consulting career.
What’s a typical workday like for you? I like waking up early, usually around 5:00 to 5:30 AM, to get some exercise before the day begins. I start working around 8:00 AM to get my day organized before I jump into emails, meetings or solutions-related work. After the day is done, I help coach youth hockey in the Austin area, so I find myself at the hockey rink twice a week.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day? I thrive in collaborative environments and the close partnerships I’ve built with clients and colleagues are some of the most fulfilling aspects of my job. Each day presents an opportunity to brainstorm, exchange ideas and work together towards shared goals. That level of teamwork and camaraderie motivates me to do my best every day.
What kind of work have you been doing? Currently, I am implementing Next Service, a Field Service Management Software built for NetSuite. I am also building out customizations on the NetSuite platform as well as configuring Next Service Scheduler and Mobile App so the client can be more efficient in the field.
Where do you deliver the most value to your client? Over the past couple years, I’ve been fortunate to work in the core business process areas as well as lead multiple data migration efforts. I’ve really enjoyed the process of completing due diligence, making sure there will be a smooth transition for the client on day one.
Linking data to finance and accounting, explain environments that have had lack of reporting infrastructure/inefficiencies and how have you brought organization and solutions-implementation. Often, our clients have disparate systems across various departments, leading to data silos and inefficiencies in reconciling financial information. We work with our clients to leverage NetSuite’s capabilities for integration and data mapping, eliminating data discrepancies.
What’s your process? When implementing a business process, I always want to start with understanding the client’s current operations. I understand the current process by conducting discovery calls and building out process flows. After gaining an understanding, I then find ways to tailor the solution that can streamline processes or make processes work more efficiently. I then provide testing and training sessions, hitting every use case that the client and I have exhausted during discovery and throughout the configuration process. The result is more efficient work processes through visibility and greater control.
