Hi, I’m Atit Patel, and I work as a NetSuite Senior Consultant in Bridgepoint Consulting’s NetSuite Consulting practice in Austin, Texas. I grew up in Houston and Dallas, Texas, and received my Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. I am also a certified Scrum Master and NetSuite ERP Consultant.
WHAT I DO AT BRIDGEPOINT…
As part of the NetSuite team, I help implement NetSuite for clients who need an ERP system or who have outgrown their old accounting system. I also provide guidance on best practices and help create accounting business processes inside and outside of NetSuite.
WHAT ATTRACTED ME TO BRIDGEPOINT…
I was drawn to Bridgepoint because of the firm’s reputation. We used Bridgepoint at my previous job and knew the quality of service we were going to receive. When I saw a job listing at the company that fit my background, I knew I wanted to apply.
WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT MY LINE OF WORK…
I really enjoy problem-solving. I have had many clients who are in the same vertical but manage their businesses in a completely different way. They have unique problems, and we have to solve them by integrating NetSuite with other SaaS products.
MY MOST MEMORABLE CLIENT ENGAGEMENT SO FAR…
The most memorable client engagement I have had to date was for a company based out of Baltimore. During our UAT session with their staff in Tennessee, a skunk must have got inside and sprayed the office. We needed to finish the UAT to meet the deadline, so we decided to tough through it with candles and doors wide open. Being nose deaf, I had to hop on a flight that evening to come back to Austin, and I bet my neighbors were not happy on that flight.
WHAT I FIND CHALLENGING ABOUT NETSUITE IMPLEMENTATIONS…
Every client is different and has unique implementation needs. It is truly amazing to see the problems each company faces and reaches out to us to help them solve them in creative ways.
HOW MY PAST EXPERIENCES TRANSLATE TO MY WORK AT BRIDGEPOINT…
My previous work experiences have been in many different areas, including biotech and healthcare SaaS, to franchise restaurants. With the knowledge of these past experiences, it helps me solve problems by thinking outside of the box. It helps put me in their shoes and understand what they are going through.
WHAT WINNING A BRIDGIE AWARD MEANS TO ME…
Winning a Bridgie Award is amazing! It feels great to know that management does care and recognize employees for their hard work.
MY LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY…
I am a firm believer in the saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” It is a more significant investment upfront, but it pays off tenfold in the future if you take the time to help others.
MY ADVICE IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING A CAREER IN CONSULTING…
Consulting is an excellent path for people who are hungry for constant change and improvement. The problem-solving aspect is rewarding, and you get to see all the different ways people run various businesses.
WHY I DECIDED TO PURSUE THE CONSULTING PATH…
I was honestly getting bored after streamlining accounting functions at my old job. I realized I enjoyed the implementation and integration of systems more than the day to day tasks.
ONE FUN FACT THAT WOULD SURPRISE PEOPLE ABOUT ME…
As a kid, I stepped in an ant pile and was rushed to the hospital after turning blue. Since then, typical ant bites don’t affect me. I think I might have grown some weird immunity to ant bites.
